clear lenses for my 92
Can anyone tell me where( if possible) I can get clear taillight/headlight
lenses for my 92? I was told that I could boil,(yes boil) the taillight lenses and the red dye would be removed, but I dont know about that, (I laughed too) Thanks |

Re: clear lenses for my 92
I havent seen any for the front or rear. for a 92-94. I have 3 family members that work in automotive plastics. Other then black plastics most colors are fixed from a clear base. Tail lights are made using clear plastic pellets that are mixed with a ratio of red dye pellets when they enter the injection mold machine the pellets are melted and mixed in the machine then injected into a mold, since the whole lens is a dyed there is no coating or tint to remove. If you scratch your tail light from the inside or outside you will see that the lens will remain red. Boiling your tail light can warp the plastic and may remove the glue the holds the lens to the backing of the tail light, This is a handy trick only if you need to remove the red lens and replace it with a clear, if the clear after market lens does not come with a backing.
