Transmission Conversion
Is there a way to convert a 5spd. transmission to an automatic. If there is what is it and how much will it cost to have done.

Its possible but not very smart. Just a guess on cost would be in the area for parts and installation would be $2000 to $4000.
Just wondering but why would you do that?

did you mean to replace a manual transmission with an automatic, or actually convert a particular transmission from one to the other?

Of course converting an auto transmission isn't possible , oh maybe it is , but makes no sense , you can buy a 6 speed manual or even a sequental gearbox if you have enough money , but this would only make sense for a race/track car...

of course you can convert a 5 speed stick to an automatic, in the process of doing that right now, in a blazer for my daughter, i purchased a wrecked blazer with a 700r4 automatic for 100 bucks, and will throw away the 5 speed, otherwise i will be fixing it and replacing the clutch too often. by purchasing the wrecked vehicle i got all the extras needed, including the cost of the vehicle and oh kit for tranny, will probably cost me about 400 and alot of labor. yikes!!! What do you want converted, what kind of vehicle?

Why all the negativity towards Autos? I will agree that manuals can be more fun but there are advantages of having an auto....not a lack of driver skill.
