Smile Couple of "pre-purchase" questions. Modena

Hi all,

I've just been hit up with the option to purchase a 2000 F550 Ferrari Modena for a decent deal, "I think"..... I did a couple of searches and only pulled up F550 MARANELLO, so possibly I was given some bad info…? ? ? Correct me if I was…. Thx

I don't know much about all the details right now since the thing is a friend of a relatives but the car is on the block only to a few close friends so it could stay in the family "so to say".

Any how I don't know much about Ferraris and I was hoping you guys would be willing to give me some much needed input before I pull the trigger... "If I do".

Some of the info I'm hoping to get is:

About the car
Cost on maintaining per year or mileage
Things I should look out for or expect
Things to consider
Retail input: fair price
HP rating, 0-60, 0-100, top-speed etc.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your input as I'm a Porsche guy but very new to the Ferrari line.

-Eli

Re: Couple of "pre-purchase" questions. Modena

Well for starters, there is not 550 modena. There is a 360 Modena, and 550/575 maranello.
the 360 is a mid engined 3.6L V8. The maranelo is a 5.5L Front mounted V12.
The maranello is considered a Grand Tourer. It has a lot of horse power (not sure of the rating and im to lazy to look).
I'm not sure of the price, but msn autos shows that they are starting at about $110,000. That is probably for a 96, im not sure. But that does seem low.

Hope that helps.
If i were you, i would do some research on the car. Why would you want to buy it, if you know nothing about it?
go to www.ferrari-chat.com There are plenty of owners there that can help you out.

Kerbie,

Thanks for the info, looks like I'm looking at a Maranelo then. I say this because I was informed that it has a V-12.....

"Are you the same Kerbie floating on 6-speed?"

The Maranelo is a big car. Very expensive too. If you can afford, i hope you enjoy it. Good luck with your decision.

And, no. Sorry im not the kerbie from 6-speed.
