Ford Econoline is blowing hot air out floor vents when the A/C is on.

I fixed my Van in about 30 minutes of working time, and it cost me about $40.
I have a 2001 E250 econoline van starting about 2 weeks ago the rear A/C started blowing Hot Air out the floor vents. The front system was blowing cold air normally. I took the van to a couple of places all of which quoted me about $1200 to fix. I bought a can of Mr Freeze and followed the directions I found the pressures to be in the correct range and add no Freon. I then open the inspection panel where the rear HVAC fan is located. I noticed that the A/C lines were cold at that point.

To complete the whole project I need the following tools:
-8mm nut driver
- 10mm nut driver
- Medium Phillips head screw driver
-large flat blade screw driver

Steps:
- I took out the back seat.
- I pulled the black plastic friction pieces out the hold the plastic over the HVAC system
o You have to gently tease it so you don’t break it. (note the lower plastic piece is held in with 3 screws at the top)
- When you have the HVAC system exposed unscrew it from the wall
o 2 of the screws holding it are 10mm that hold it to the van body
o 1 Phillips screw is holding the A/C duct work to the housing and 6 8mm screws are holding the Heater duct together.
- When you have all that free gently pull the housing from the wall
- Just forward and below the blower motor is a small vacuum motor. (test the vacuum line to see if you have vacuum when the A/C is on)
- You can remove the vacuum motor assembly with one screw 8mm (you will have to wiggle it some to get it off)
- I got to this point in about 10 minutes of work in 100 degree heat (I had a fan blowing on me)
- if you have vacuum does the vacuum motor move when vacuum is applied if not replace (I have been told this is a very common fail point)
- I found my Blend door to be busted
- Ford quoted me $96 for a new door., so I fixed the old one.
- I bought $4 worth of epoxy cut some pieces of plastic and repaired it
- Beware the door can be put in wrong when it is right it will move very freely.
- I let the epoxy cure over night and after work the next day I put the door and the vacuum motor back in.
- I took off the fan motor so I could look in and watch its movement it worked just fine.
- I spent about 10-15 minutes putting it back together.
- Works great. saved myself over $1100

Ok its not a blend door Ford has an all or nothing thing going on in the back. All A/C or all heat, but the door was broken at the pull point. drove it all day today worked great kids did not melt.
