3. How many well tuned Eclipses do you run into? I have yet to find one but the Maxima performs better than expected, straight from the factory. Properly reinforced, the VQ engine can produce 1500HP and is claimed to be more bulletproof than the 2JZ engine that was used by Toyota in the Supra line. If budget weren't an issue and the choice were between your DDP system and my reinforced VQ, I'd take the VQ anyday.

Hmmm....

well tuned Eclipses aren't that rare. I'd go as far as to say they're more common than a well tuned Maxima - but I guess it's all about where you live. I ran into a lot of them back in Utah, and haven't seen too many here in Jersey. Go figure. Although I dont have much knowledge on the eclipse/talon, I know that the right parts can make them tough contenders, especially the awd models - there's not much to argue against no/little wheelspin after cranked up boost.

As for a 1500hp VQ, are you on crack? Of course, -properly reinforced- you can get a lawnmower to pump 1500 horses, but it's rare to find anyone pushing the bulletproof RB series of Nissan engines past the 1k mark. I'd love to see 1500hp VQ make it past one oil change without ripping off the tires. Numbers mean little when thrown in the pit verses practicality.

Bottomline, I'll keep my maxima over a tallon because of Nissan's reliability - but I'd take a Supra anyday, just for bragging rights.

yes, it is true that eclipses have the potential to be fast with less money than it takes to make the maxima fast, but it is my belief that it would be more interesting to turn a sedan, such as the maxima, into a sleeper (or whatever you call it) than an eclipse into a faster car. The 95 and above (5 and 6 spd) maximas can easily take, if not beat, stock for stock, an eclipse gs-t. The GSX, however, would most likely win, considering it takes an eclipse with AWD and turbo to beat a maxima. Maximas aren't heavy, a GXE model actually weighs less than a GSX.

and in my personal opinion, i would rather have a maxima than an eclipse, I've driven an eclipse with turbo, then got in my maxima, the eclipse (interior and exterior) build quality just feels....cheap, like it's a toy. My maxima feels more refined and durable. And as far as aesthetics go, I think a maxima, lowered, with mille miglia wheels, looks better than any eclipse out there.

Its all about what feels right!

If your a maxima person than drive a maxima.

If you enjoy a perfectly balanced short shift transmission,
and like exotic design than go for the eclipse.

Im sure glad they used an eclipse and not a maxima in
To Fast To Furious.

Sporty sedan or exotic sports car, whats your bliss?

Oh and......
My 2000 eclipse's leather interior has class writen all over it.
I design cars, and the eclipse has nice curves, but can use a little help
with the high flanks, thats why you slap a body kit on.
add a nice body drop and some sweet wheels.

The maxima is to "boxie" looking for me and I dont like its curves.
Its like having a girl friend that performs good but has nothing nice to grab on to.

Point of fact: A 4th gen Maxima was used in TF&F (Vince's car). Dammit, I just proved I've seen that horrible flick!

Re: Confirmed Kill / Mitsu Eclipse w. fart muffler

I think one of the main problems with the Modded DSMs you see is that most of these guys are NOT running GS-Ts and GSXs. As far as any of the T's or GSXs I know of they are usually all about go. I don't think a GS-T is anything to fear in a Maxima. I also came across a 534hp 604ft/lb. Maxima for sale for about 12K that ran 12s. I have the link if anyone is interested in this assassin.
