Re: 1/8 talbot lago t26c

Thanks guys!

First glued pieces... Difficult for me to explain, but it is the metal return over the "doors" body:

1,5mm aluminium piece, cyano...

The result:

Well, today gas tank.
Gas tank? Yes, it's the gas tank, AND a piece of the body!
Dangerous, but froggies, you know...

I try a new (for me...) method in metal forming. I don't hurt directly on the metal, but on a cylindric metal piece, more clean!

A gently wave, don't worry...

Lovely engineering work you're doing here Dan, it's looking gorgeous. Really enjoying watching your build without all the stress of actually doing it myself!

Best of luck,
Lee.

Re: 1/8 talbot lago t26c

Great thread!

Propeller, you mentioned that you anneal your aluminum body panels but they appear to not have been near any heat. How do you do it? My alu attempts have resulted in too much work hardening (cracking) or intermediate flame annealing where the workpiece got too hot and warped (or even melted!). Any tips are greatly appreciated. I love those rolled edges btw!

Re: 1/8 talbot lago t26c

Hey - I'm not complaining: this is a beautiful piece of work!

Question is, does the subject determine the materials used, or vice versa? I can imagine the problems trying to build a car of this style using plastic and fibreglass - making it strong enough without compromising the looks or detail would be really difficult. However, a later tube-frame car seems to work okay in these materials! (well, so far...) A modern Formula 1 car in this scale? Hmmm...lots of intricate fibreglass mouldings glued together, maybe, but the suspension would be a challenge...

Lovely stuff, Dan.

Re: 1/8 talbot lago t26c

Hi gentlemen, and thanks for your kind comments...

To CrateCruncher: try an heat gun (full power of course)! For small thicknesses (I use 0,4mm), it is perfect, no problem of over heating, cracking etc... It works perfectly!

To SB (I'm one of your fan...) yes, the subject 1/1 scale, determine the materials! Here, the aluminum body was a real challenge for me.
In fact, I try to bond with the reality if possible. For _the recent..._ formula one, sorry it's not my cup of tea.

Well, today, rear end, strong one:

How to...
