much respect for your achievement! I was worried about you getting it finished in time - but you made it! Congratulations on a true speed-build. Especially considering the troubles you had with yours. Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow! Greetz Sebastian |

Re: Cayman Interseries | modern racers with historic liveries
I couldn't send the model to the show for various reasons, but I built
it to a presentable level. Anyway, here's my last wip update. I ended up lowering the car, and that caused the steering rod to touch the chassis, so I sanded the corner as shown, so the rod wouldn't get caught. The kit doesn't include the clutch pedal, so I made it out of styrene. It's a pain to paint the inside of the window part in two colors. There should be two holes for the lower window trim part. Among three kits I have, one side was filled in one kit, and both sides were filled in two kits, so I had to drill those missing holes. It's easier to bevel the edge before cutting a piece out. Here, I was making the blades of the front grill, and each piece was beveled before they were separated from the sheet. And the finished pieces were glued to a modified kit part. Sometimes I use balsa wood to fill a large space. It's easy to cut, and it doesn't add a lot of weight to the model. You can also cover a piece of balsa wood with polyester putty, then add details. Below are masters for the sub-frame of the floor pan. After I cut out these pieces, an idea popped up in my head. Instead of making a pair of these pieces for right and left sides, I barely held these together with tiny drops of super glue, and vac-formed a few copies for one side (either driver or passenger). Then I separated the master pieces apart, and flipped them over, then repeated the process for the other side. In a matter of few minutes, I was able to make several copies of completely symmetrical parts. I'm still experimenting this method, but when it comes to a flat object with little details, I think this method saves a lot of time. Towing hooks were made of styrene sheet. I drilled holes on a sheet of styrene, and cut out each piece. Then I trimmed and rounded the corner. As it turned out, Fujimi's Cayman is a top notch kit. Other than a few minor flaws, the parts fit precisely, body shape looks accurate, and the interior features realistic 3-dimensional details. I had a lot of fun building this kit, and I want to build more.. |

Re: Cayman Interseries | modern racers with historic liveries
And so my Mobile 1 livery is done.
But wait... Ta-da ! Now I have craving for doing a few more, like Rothmans, New Man and Martini liveries. Anyway, it's been fun to be a part of this thread. |

Re: Cayman Interseries | modern racers with historic liveries
Hello Hiro, great stuff - and you even built a surprise for us!!! Very sad that the models couldn't make it to the show.
You better plan for sending them early next year, the show will be early in October. The Cayman Interseries has been a joyful modeling project and group build. Thanks to everybody who participated and made it to the finish line! As the WIP thread is now more or less finished - please take a look at the gallery thread. |

That's a great pair of Caymans, Hiroaki
The Hawaiian Tropic "bonus track" is an awesome surprise It's a shame they couldn't make it to the show.

2011 Cayman Interseries pictures
The 2011 Porsche Cayman Interseries is well underway. Many 2011 paint schemes are very similar to the 2010 ones with some updating. The latest pictures I could find were for the Watkins Glenn and Mid-Ohio races. There were at least two new liveries including SKOAL and M******O. I will respect the copyright of the photographers but check this link http://www.pixxbytango.com/ThePorsch...-International
These cars are prepared by Speedsport Tuning of Darin, CT. Also do a GOOGLE web search to find more. Lindley Ruddick |
