1999 Rally New Zealand Mitsubishi Evo 6

It has been a while in between builds but back at it again. This time with Tommi Makinen's 1999 Rally NZ Evo 6 Tamiya kit. Is all OOB at this stage but things may change a bit.

Little more progress. Wheels are done and awaiting their Michelin rubber, interior is moving along, rollcage and belts to go and then it is onto the bodywork.

Looking forward to putting some red onto the Evo's shell.

Re: 1999 Rally New Zealand Mitsubishi Evo 6

Cheers for the comments guys. Another morning spent on this one, body is painted, wee bit of run under the masking but all in all pretty happy with the result. Have been putting this kit of for ages due to the masking required as I couldn't bring myself to even try using the decals.

Will leave the body to cure for a couple of days before continuing on. Couldn't resist a quick mockup shot of the body with gravel rims.

I think I would leave it as is in the last photo! Could build a service park diorama around it. But seriously, the paint looks great. Yes, the decals look like they would be fun.

Re: 1999 Rally New Zealand Mitsubishi Evo 6

Body is now on the chassis and the car just needs the livery to be put on. I have a few hours spare tonight so shall do just that.

Not long to go on this one now, it has been a fun build and has brought back a lot of memories.

Re: 1999 Rally New Zealand Mitsubishi Evo 6

Gidday Steve! Yes the colour is just the TS-49 Tamiya Spray, no clearcoats on this one, just as it came out of the rattlecan. I am a wee bit too scared to go whole-hog on clearcoat and polishing etc haha.

Model is done now. Here is a teaser shot:
