Question Want my rusty old 2001 truck louder.... (don't judge because I'm a chick....)

Ok, so my truck... 2001 GMC Sierra w/ 325,000 miles on it. About five years ago I put a Flowmaster dual exhaust on it... But I live in Michigan with salt-covered roads and the two pipes have rusted off about six months ago (but the muffler is still on). The truck sounds pretty nice right now (it's louder than a "normal" truck, but doesn't sound like it's broken since the muffler is still fully intact). My husband (he's a mechanic) think that the truck is only gunna last another six months to a year so it's not worth putting money into it on a new exhaust. But I want it louder. I told him to just take the whole dang thing off but he won't because he thinks it'll be too loud and I'll get pulled over. So I asked him if he'd drill a hole(s) in it to make it louder but keep me from getting pulled over, and he keeps saying "we'll see, we'll see" which means 'no cuz I don't want your truck to be louder than mine'. So my question is: is it possible to make my truck louder without putting money into it or making it sound like a piece of crap? Also, if it is drilling a hole(s) in it, can you tell me where is the best place on the muffler to do it? (I'm pretty mechanically inclined, my husband just won't tell me cuz he knows I'll do it myself). Like I said, the truck is only gunna last another six months to a year (most people say not to drill holes in the muffler cuz it makes it rust so much faster, but that isn't a worry here). ***can post pics of where exhaust rusted off***
