Un-clunk Your Clunker

Your car isn’t that old and runs okay, looks okay, provides reliable transportation, but the AC/Heater is flakey and comfort for the family is important. The dealer wants over $1000 to get it working correctly. Why put more money into an old car when you can take the Cash for Clunkers money and get a new one? The payments will be a challenge, but at least you’ll be comfortable.
Sound familiar? This is a common discussion about older automobiles and is indicative of a common design problem in Ford, Chrysler and Chevy automobiles in the late ‘90’s into early ‘00. The problem is usually not with a bad heater core or AC evaporator core, but with the system that controls air flow through the two temperature elements.
