2006 Honda Civic Ex with 90,000 miles. When in idle the engine revs and the car jerks. Happens when in park or stopped at red lights
2006 Honda Civic Ex with 90,000 miles. When in idle the engine revs and the car jerks. Happens when in park or stopped at red lights
1. The jerking and RPM fluctuating only happens on a warm engine. It has never happened when I just start up the car. 2. Sometimes the car starts hard. Sometimes it won’t start on the first try and in order to get it started I have to press the accelerator to the floor. 3. No check engine light has appeared. 4. Once I start accelerating the problem is gone completely. There is no jerking or roughness once I get going. When I searched the problem on Google I came up with the Air Control Valve as the possible problem. Any ideas of what the problem could be? |

You should check your spark plugs first, if they haven't been changed fairly recently, since it's an easy job. If that's not the issue, you could certainly remove the Idle Air Control Valve and clean it with some carb cleaner, and see if that fixes the issue.
