MOT and Service Cost

Hi,

I do not know a huge amount about cars but my 03 Golf is due a full service and MOT, its on about 93,000 miles.

I have so far been quoted just short of £330 for a full service and MOT by a local garage.

I was expecting to pay around the £200 mark for this and was hoping to get some advice from some more knowledgable people.

Thanks for your time,

Jake

Re: MOT and Service Cost

There are really different levels of service. Some garages can just change the oil and few small things and charge you a lot of money. What you need to do is to see a VW approved garage. At 93,000 it may be due for a lot of filter and part changes. If you like your car, it doesn't give you any troubles and you intend to keep it, you would benefit from a proper service. It will increase performance, reduce petrol usage and the auto will last longer. It would make sense to invest a little especially if you haven't had a proper VW service for some time.
