1:25 Corvette C5-R
I went to walmart a few days a go and i went crazy, i got new paints, glue, brushes and ofcourse some models. this C5-R, a shelby series 1 and a 1:43 288 GTO. this is the only progress i have made with the car and i will include a pic of the box. the hardest thing on this i think, will be the paint job. i have painted it all yellow then i will have to put on the black decal stripes that separate the yellow from the white, but other than doing this and getting the white perfect, and also the many decals. this model should be a breeze. If you guys have any good pointers or suggestions for this model feel free tell me. i will keep you posted on the progress.

It looks like a really nice kit!
Will you see any of that engine when the body is on? Shame to hide it all! Yes, you are a cheat, but at least you are having a go! Body looks good! Make sure you chat with us before starting the decals, as there are so many little tips for doing that! |

Shine on that paint looks good!
Well done. Now, for the decals you need a bowl of warm water, with a drop of washing up liquid added after filling! (Not before! You don't want sud city!) Cut each decal as you need it, with good, sharp scissors, cutting as close to the pattern as you dare, getting rid of clear carrier film. Dip the decal into the water, hold for about 5 seconds, then take out and lay onto some kitchen paper. Leave whist you cut out the next decal, shoud take about 20 seconds. Go back and the decal should be lose on the paper, but slimey! Wet the section of the model the decal is going on slightly. Pick up the paper with tweezers, offer it up to the model, and with another pair of tweezers or something similar, slide the decal off the paper and onto the wet model. Dab any excess water with a wet cotton cloth. Move the decal into place using the end of the closed tweezers, adding a little water with abrush if it is getting abit awkward or dry. once happy with posistion, dab again with damp cloth, and decal is in place. Move on to another decal!!! Good luck. The model looks simple, but any stubborn decals can be forced to conform to shape with heat from a hair dryer, but really softening solutions are needed for that. Try to avoid that for the moment. |

Ok, here is the finished product. the decals took forever and it was very tedious work. i thought this was going to be one of the hardest models i have done but besides the decals it was one of the easiest. the pieces fit like butter and there weren't a billion steps. here are some pics.
I will be starting the Shelby Series 1 model in a few days, i need a bit of a break...
