Re: Learning Race Driving

good ob on buying the game, it wont do much other than to help u learn the real life tracks.
the difference between racing and driving skool, driving skool teaches u wat u should do if a deer jumps into the road, or different road hazzards(it also lowers insurance fora while. racing skool teaches u techniques for racing, cornering, downshifting, racing.
um im not aware of ne skools that use ferraris, there to expensive, they would cost way to much for maintence. theres a skool in california that uses gm products, from shifter carts, all the way up to vettes and anything in between.
and wat game is that, cause i know gt2 is gran turismo, and they dnt have ferraris, the f1 which most the time is forza, pgr which is project gotham racing, wat did u buy. relize like i said games are only going to teach u about the tracks, not the lines or racing ways or rules

Re: Learning Race Driving

Not this game, it could teach me everything I need to know. Don't confuse this with GT4, definitely not GT2. It's GTR2: The Official FIA GT Racing Simulation for the PC.

I know it's just a game but what a game it is.

Re: Learning Race Driving

eh...it'll teach u cars and tracks. but a skool will teach way more than nething else will. if u live near a nascar track, or a big time race track, most of the time they'll have a racing skool, check the internet.
if u wanna go pro, start now. if its nascar, take ur iroc, and find an empty parking lot, and just start making left turns for like 1/2 an hour, get used to going left. if its a gt class racing u wanna do, karting is a good start, then mayb put some money into ur iroc or some other car, that way u can join scca, and work from the bottom to the top, beware tho, no matter wat league u get into it will drain ur pocket, so if ur alone(no parents) have a damn good payign job. if u have parents, and u show enuf interest, they'll probably help u

Re: Learning Race Driving

Lol at the Iroc comment. I mean it, that was funny. I'm going to try a bunch of things to see what I like best, and now I know that besides money, motivation is my best weapon getting to pro racing. I still don't understand why a road racer can't jump into triovals but I'm leaning toward GT racing right now so I'm going into karting. I wish it was that time already but I have all this time to learn racing lines and braking (aside from college, of course) before I do.

I researched Skip Barber racing school. There's one at Limerock Park. I can catch the ferry and drive to CT, and get their One Day combo, some driving school and some racing school. All I can say is 1,500 for one day better be worth it. I'm not gonna rush my trip for that much either, just mean I'm gonna play it smart.

Re: Learning Race Driving

i didnt intend for the connectin between nascar and iroc, and the iroc races believe it or not.
i didnt even know that barber was at limerock ,that may have just made my life a lil easier.
u can jump from gt racing in tri oval, or nascar type racing. boris said has. pj jones has. robby gordon and tony stewert came from irl. along with some others. gt to stock isnt the easiest b/c of diferent racing types. if u wanted 2 jump, try the nascar rd courses than mayb a team will make a full time offer, it just takes time. good that u wanna do a few different things and that gt is ur ultimate goal.
if u dnt mind me asking what do u go to college for?

Re: Learning Race Driving

The Iroc can be fixed but it's iffy right now and I need to buy a kart sooner.

I asked myself the same thing a few years ago, If I want to be a race car driver, why am I going to college. Well the answer was easier than I thought. To pay for getting into it!! My major is currently computer science, but I want to explore mechanical engineering and architecture/design. That's another story because I'm in a college that doesn't offer either but has an excellent comp sci major. another story...where was I. I'm not jinxing anything, but I will be racing a lot before I'm completely out of college.

Sign up for a NASA HPDE (high performance driver education on a racetrack like Lime Rock) in your own car with an instructor riding along. Do enough of those and you can get your racing license. For Northeast, click here:

http://www.nasanortheast.com/schedule.htm

Good luck,

Jon
