97 sidekick sport MAFS?

Father in law has a crack in the mass airflow sensor so it needs to be replaced. Suzuki says he needs to replace the whole air intake because its a calibrated unit or something. Quote for just the parts is $1200...is this true? And if so does he have any cheaper options? Any suggestions would be appreciated. 1997 sidekick sport 1.6

Re: 97 sidekick sport MAFS?

Normally MAFs come pre-calibrated when you purchase them.
You should also be able to find aftermarket MAFs built to the identical spec by 3rd party companies, which would be a lot cheaper than purchasing from a Suzuki dealer.
