Trans Am vs. LS1 GTO

I was out riding around yesterday in some damn fine weather when I run up on a very clean bright ass red LS1 GTO with 2 guys in it early 20's...

I caught up with him with no real traffic ahead of us going about 45mph and as soon as I got beside him I heard him downshift and I went WOT and quickly put about 1 1/2 cars on him untilI shut down at 90.

We catch the next light and windows came down and the driver points at his passenger and jokingly says "I got an extra body in the car" We all laughed and when the light turned green I hooked almost instantly with my new Goodyear Eagle F1 and put about 2 cars on him and by time I shut down at 100 he was at least 3-4 cars behind.

Never asked what he had done. It was a 6-speed and had exhaust Im sure of. Im confindent it would have gotten way worse the faster we got.

Thumbs up in the end and the first run since adding the heads, cam, and headers. Dynotune coming within the next moth...

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Trans Am vs. LS1 GTO

Thanks guys! It was fun for sure. I cant waut till the dynotune and then track times to follow...

My car sounds awsome but it is really, really loud especially at WOT. Im good with it but when I drive it to work and crank it up around 6am I almost feel bad for the people living around me. Almost...

Nothing like having the better looking and the faster car. Suprised you hooked so well off the line at the light. Must have been your day.

I hit my rev limiter a couple times between the 1-2 shift since doing the work to the car. Ever since I have not gone WOT from a dead stop and always ease into it till it changes gears at 5500ish and then WOT once in 2nd.

The guy thats tuning the car said he wouldnt drive it till it gets tuned but it seems to run fine. No drivability problems at all and since it it impossible for me not to drive it I try not to go WOT off the line.

Also the Goodyear Eagle F1s I have are brand new and grip very well. I like them a lot.

Lol, that is what a buddy of mine said. The guy in the SS was intake/dumped exhaust/cam/tune/spray...so it would take more than just 18 pounds to beat this guy! But once I get some other bills taken care of, I'm going up to 18 pounds and running a dumped down pipe.
