Upgrade recommendations for a '93 6G72 Dodge Spirit?
Hey everyone,
First off, I just want to tell you that I am no professional driver. In fact, I just got my license. But I did just buy a 1993 Dodge Spirit off my brother for $600. It's in good condition and there's relatively nothing wrong besides a bit of an oil drip. It's automatic as well. The engine is a 141HP 3.0L Mitsubishi 6G72 V6. It's got a bit of kick. Everything is stock...It's even got hubcaps. So I've only got about $1000 to work with give or take. I am looking for some street ready performance upgrades, not that I necessarily want to race seriously or anything. I've been talking to my buddies and they've been saying cold air intake, exhaust, struts, and brakes. I am not sure if that's all going to fit in the budget but who knows. Some other things I've been thinking about is a turbo or a ECU but I am not sure if either are going to A.) work with my spirit B.) work with the budget I have. Turbo kits are really expensive but I'm not sure if I would need a full kit or whatever....I don't know too much about engines. I've been watching Spike Powerblock for the last 10 years of my life, but yet I still have no idea what a camshaft does. Any engine upgrades worth while? So any recommendations? Are wheels going to do anything for performance? I can afford new wheels/tires but that will almost if not max out my budget entireley. So any ideas? Thanks all. |

save the money you got. with the economy, and your saying your budget is 1k, you cant get too much for that.
save it for maintenance things (ball joints, tie rods, tires, brakes, etc.)

Well, I've reserved $1000 just for upgrades. I've got the money for problems if they occur. I am also just trying to be theoretical. Maybe I won't get anything right right now, but eventually...

90 percent of every perfect suspension setup is tires. get some good threads. you might be surprised how much of a difference just tires can make.

That the same V6 that Mistu decided to toss in the last gen (the first of the fail) eclipses? If so...you may be better off just saving your money for something else.
