Accidents and New Beginnings
okay so as u may have read from the previous thread titled "Accidents" I've gone through some bad luck lately. First, my cousin crashed the Dodge Stealth that my friend had lent to me. so to pay him back I gave him my eclipse, escort, and the '68 Pontiac GTO Judge which my uncle had given me. Then I was offered a so-called "mint condition" Geo Metro, which I bought just to find a crack in the engine block a couple weeks later. Well as I said in "Accidents" around 3 hours after my friend had discovered the crack in the Metro's block, I heard a knock on my bedroom door and my father walked in. Well when he walked in he tossed a set of keys at me. I thought he was just being a douche bag, so i chucked the keys back at him. He then proceeded to tell me that his blue '98 Escort Zx2 was now mine. (that's right his Escort Zx2, not the same one that I possessed before) After hearing this I didn't know what to say, but I gladly took the offer. This car is part of my family. I've got so many good memories in this car, it's the whole reason I had gotten the Escort that I had talked about before. So this is my last chance. Since it has been so good to me... it's time to return the favor. I need your help to fix it up and make it like new again... So I'll post a list of it's specs and problems

Re: Accidents and New Beginnings
-needs oil change ~ Change the oil.
-needs a new battery ~ Buy a new battery. -Petrified front seats due to years of coffee and soda spills ~ Go grab some nicer seats from the junk yard. -tires unalligned ~ Get an alignment. -bad a/c - Check for leaks. -bad heating ~ Probably a heater core. -jacked rear defrost ~ That's tough, but check fuses. If not a fuse or the switch it's the wire or the defrost itself in the rear window. -Various dents ~ Learn body work. -various scratches ~ Learn to paint. -bad oil ~ Once again, change the oil. -bad gas ~ Drain the tank. -plastic lining trunk area is broken ~ Grab that from the junk yard as well. -cannot see throught the headlights ~ Grab a headlight restoration kit. I've used the one from 3M and it works VERY well. -near unrestorable carpet in front seat ~ Another thing to grab from the junk yard. -cloth lining above head hangs down ~ Go to the fabric store and get same color material. Get can of 3M Super 77 spray glue. Pull off the old head liner. Use the glue to hold the new fabric to the backing board. This is tough as you have to keep it stretched. Good luck and congrats on the free car. |

Re: Accidents and New Beginnings
thanks for the help... but not all of it is as simple as it seems. to start with the heating and air conditioning problem has to do with a wire that hangs down just below the glovebox... the wire is unconnected and the connectors are missing... second, when my dad first bought the car we went on a trip and somehow... my sister ripped both of the rear defrost wires from the window... the wires should be an easy fix... but until i get the headliner pressed back against the roof, i'm going to leave it just incase of an accidental fire... third i've ripped the carpet from the car and i plan to replace it... in other news things that aren't wrong with it but i've fixed anyway, i took out the stock speakers and replaced them... and on top of that i've replace the stereo deck... the only other thing i've done so far is replace the battery, drain the gas tank, and i've replaced the steering wheel after cutting my hand on the old broken and hardened leather steering wheel. give me more information i need it

Re: Accidents and New Beginnings
You gave someone a GTO Judge(worth like what, 30-40k in good condition?), along with 2 other cars, because you indirectly wrecked their stealth?
That must have been one hell of a stealth. |

Re: Accidents and New Beginnings
If his uncle gave him the GTO to begin with, it couldn't have been worth much at all. Assuming this, the Escort and Eclipse shouldn't have been either. Sounds believable. For his sake, he should be glad he actually didn't have to shell out the money, just gave up 3 old cars that not many people want (also assuming they weren't worth much).

Re: Accidents and New Beginnings
You think that not a lot of people want a gto judge? Its only one of the most iconic american cars ever.
Even a beat up judge would be worth more than 99 percent of stealths. |
