By The Way, I added #01R folder this one; I think it should be there. Because I have wrote the liveries before the Le Mans race in to the text; so I think these paintings will do the clearance what it was before the race.

Re: Show us your F1 Memorabilia / F1 related items you've bought

Hi Sami
Thanks for the feedback......I see you are also a fan of JJ. At Suzuka 6 hours 1996 we were in the lead at the last hour by about 30 minutes.....JJ was driving the last stint and Michael Cane the Team Principle was calling JJ on the radio to 'slow down we are 30 (or maybe even 45) minutes ahead......no answer.....again MC called JJ as he passed us on the pit straight.....'JJ please look after the car'.....the ambient temp was still around 35C and we were all just about to drop from heat stroke. The next lap we heard from JJ "I cannot fucking hear you!!!!!" We won that race by a long way with JJ driving, as he stopped the car under the podium I was the first one there and He was absolutly exhausted...I helped him out of the car and he was soaking wet and dehydrated.... I thought we may need medical assistance.......he sat on the ground next to the car.....had a drink and made it to the podium to celebrate yet another awesome drive. That man was a star and i loved working with him.

Yes I followed more Mika Hakkinen, but when JJ started to drive GTR's, it was of course very interesting.

What a story from Suzuka! Thank you so much sharing that here!

I only knew this kind of thing was happened in Zhuhai, can you tell us anything about Zhuhai's weekend? JJ lost the second place I think because he could not drink nothing that double stint if I remember right?

I spoke with Steve Soper in Goodwood's Members Meeting and he told funny thing from Helsinki's race. Steve told me that he really did not felt comfortable at all in Helsinki but when JJ left from the pits he span; and all mechanics put them hands in to the air and.."OOUUU NOOUUUU" and JJ missed the barrier around 2cm. And then.."AAHHHH..nou hit....."

If you have more stories; free to share. There is not so much information available these years; even the books don't tell all.

Here is also my Fathers painting; The Finish line from Le Mans!

Re: Show us your F1 Memorabilia / F1 related items you've bought

Very nice paintings Sami. JJ was indeed incredible during the night at LM 1995.
At Zhuhai 1996 we raced at the brand new circuit that was still being finished off when we arrived. There were beds and cooking equipment in the pit garages as the workers were still finishing off the facilities. I remember watching dozens of women scraping the pitlane on their hand and knees the day before first practice. Access roads were built overnight and it was amazing to see the result.
We were sponsored by Marlboro....they gave away a lot of cigarettes that weekend!
During the race JJ spun due to a blown rear brake disc. We were new to the game regarding carbon brakes and we learnt a lot about them that weekend. The introduction of the carbon brakes was a great step forward as in the past we would have to do a brake pad change during a 4 hour race. With carbon they lasted for several races.
We were also using drivers cool suits that in those days were very unreliable. If they failed during a stint they became very uncomfortable and the drivers could do nothing about it other than pit and get out of the car. The drivers drink bottles were very basic back then as well. At GTC we developed a quick change bottle system that worked very well... 90% of the time.....during a double or triple stint we could change the bottle for a fresh, cold one without any hassle if just refuelling. These systems are in everyday use these days.
I have a fantastic model of the 1996 Zhuhai car that was provided to the team members by Tony Bellm. Once I get used to posting pics I'll send

Re: Show us your F1 Memorabilia / F1 related items you've bought

Very nice stories indeed. SO much that at least I did not knew. Any book don't tell these things really.

I wonder; could you have any information, where and who got an idea to get JJ 1995 Le Mans in to Paul'ss Team?
The books only say that McLaren did the job, but who really was behind that?
Have you any ideas?

I'm very angry my self; I met Paul Lazante in MM and changed few words about JJ and Le Mans, BUT I didn't understand to ask him that there.

Re: Show us your F1 Memorabilia / F1 related items you've bought

Hi Guys,
i would be very glad to get your help. During the last geneva motorshow mclaren has handed out a small brochure for the 675 LT. I have seen some of them for sale on eBay but most of them are printed in french. Is there someone here who can help me out to find a copy in another language?
You can also send me a pm. It was a small 23 page brochure and i missed to take my one as i was also invited to the stand.
Thanks

... simply call the guys of McLaren Düsseldorf. If you ask kindly they will send you a German one.
Or even better: Jump into you car and drive over. It's definitely worth the 200 mile trip as they currently have a silver P1 on display.
