I know this isn't what you are looking after, however I think easiest is to make them yourself.
Otherwise from memory RBmotion used to make very nice ones.

Re: where to buy coil springs?

I just searched google for "springs" and quite a few companies come up. A lot of them have stock sizes you can order from or give them specs on what you want.

RB Motion and Studio 27, but it really is easy to make your own.

Re: where to buy coil springs?

If you ever decide to look into making them and are looking for something to fit on a 1/24 or 1/25 scale i've used copper wire made by Darice. 22 gauge was the closest size to looking like the molded springs. They make the wire in different colors and cost between $2-$3 plus change. Found it at an arts and crafts store where they sell the beads and wire to make jewelry with. Wrap it around the threads of a screw, cut to size, sand the edges and close them with some tweezers. the hardest part about doing this was finding a screw with the right threads that wouldn't leave the wire too closed or opened up (after wrapping around screw then removing it off screw).

Depends on the size you're looking for but many cheap biro pens can be a perfect source for springs which suit 1/24 scale.

Re: where to buy coil springs?

Hey, Just find a few Bic Lighters, take apart, the little springs in side are great for spring coil over use Hollow 1/8" tube, cut for top cylinder, then use small rod .40 solid that fits inside the 1/8" hollow tube, then cut a small slice from the hollow tube end,"this is the cap that holds the spring on,,glue the cap on the solid .40 rod leaving a little out the top to use to glue to frame, after it drys, cut the lighter spring too size, and slide over the .40 rod to the cap top, then slip the .080, or 1/8" tube over the bottom and there u go,,I have a pic,,but can't get it loaded on the lap top,,dang it,,

Buy coil springs??

I must admit, that never would have occurred to me.

Get some suitable wire (this is what I use) and some brass tubing of various diameters. Measure the kit dampers with some calipers to determine what size tubing and wire to use. Then wrap the wire into a coil.

To get suitable coil spacing, I cut three lengths of wire, and wrap them around the tube. Slide them off of the tube, and carefully separate them. Slide one back onto the tube, and correct the shape as necessary at the ends. This way, you can make springs of any size and shape, for just about any car you need.

Coil Springs can also be ordered in online stores like Amazon and JC Whitney.

Re: where to buy coil springs?

I've found that many of the springs that can be bought do not have the scale thickness or spacing making them too unrealistic. Try making the springs out of copper, solder, or softened brass, as mentioned above, but instead of using a screw find a rod of the right diameter and then spiral the wire around it without any gaps. Then, take a hobby knife and used the blade to slowly space out the coils to the gaps that you need.
