Re: A/c Problems For 1997 Dodge Neon Help!!!
You put it in the slots of the plug with the wires. And be careful not to let the paper clip touch anything,

Re: A/c Problems For 1997 Dodge Neon Help!!!
I did the jumper right. If i jump the high side and it comes on, that means the high switch is bad. But when it does comes on when i jump it, can i leave it on long enough to put freon in or do i need to wait until i replace the high pressure switch.
How do i replace the high pressure switch when its mounted to the compressor. Sorry to bug you so much I do appreciate all your help though! Last edited by nutbushchris77; 06-30-2008 at 07:51 AM. Reason: forgot a word |

Re: A/c Problems For 1997 Dodge Neon Help!!!
I've never done it by jumping the hi side. So I would replace it first then see if it turns on when you jump the low side. If it works when you jump the low side after replacing the hi you can leave the jumper in for a couple minutes to get the 134a in. The connect it back up and see if it cycles, repeat for another 1 or 2 minutes until compressor starts to cycle. Then keep checking with gauge while you fill it. I don't think jumping the hi side is safe without the proper knowledge and equipment, and would rather not recomend you do something that could hurt you.

And make sure you are connecting the can to the low side only.

Re: A/c Problems For 1997 Dodge Neon Help!!!
go back to basics . check the fuse in place with a meter or a trouble light. also check if you have 12 volts at the plug shown. car runing, ac on, fan on high. the pressure switch will close with a can of freon and a set of gauges. one more trick swap out ac and horn relay with each other. list of things that will cause the comp not to come on.....ac dash switch, ac relay ,fuse, low press switch, high pressure switch, no voltage at comp clutch, or no ground. meter and a schematic a must to electrical work.....keep us posted
