How to tighten crankshaft pulley bolt

On a 96 ford escort 1.9 liter with automatic trans, after replacing the timing belt, how do you tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt when I only have hand tools? It needs 90 or 95 foot pounds but you can't tighten it because the crankshaft just turns around and I can't find a way to lock the crankshaft without causing possible damage to the pulley or putting stress on the new timing belt. I thought of taking out the starter motor and somehow blocking the flywheel but I don't want to cause any damage to the flywheel teeth. Is there a special tool or method to do this???????

I have been using this method for years. "The Rope Trick". It's quicker and easier than the "tool", and the basic steps are simple:
 (loosen/tighten)
1 - Pull plugs and rotate crank to #1 0° TDC Compression
2 - Rotate crank about 90° past TDC.
3 - Stuff about 3 feet of clothesline into # 1 plug hole, leaving 6" outside (feeding the rope in thru a short length of heater hose makes the job even quicker).
4 - Rotate the crank backwards until the packed rope stops further rotation.
5 - Use socket, breaker bar, and pipe extension to loosen pulley bolt.
6 - Tighten bolt the same way, but start with crank about 90° before #1 TDC Comp.
7 - Once tightened to spec, back the crank up a little and remove clothesline.

I would be afraid I couldn't get all that stuff out of the cylinder well after I tightened the bolt, think if that stuff got stuck in there, you would have to pull the head off to fix it.

Oh that's really interesting! Whether is that possible to tighten crank pulley without dismantling the engine?

Most ask the question- "how to loosen the cramk pulley" you must have used an impact wrench- so that is how I tighten...

Been doing it for years. Dodges, Volvos, Mazdas etc. Everything from a big block V8 to little 1.8 2.0 4 bangers. Only issues I have ever heard of a guy forgot to pull the rope back out and cranked it over. Just make sure you are on TDC on the compression stroke so the valves are closed.

I use to use the "rope trick" and it worked well for me. But I have recently tried the method where an old serpentine belt is back-folded around the crank pulley ... works pretty well, much better than I expected. Much quicker than the rope trick.
