Lightbulb Dodge Daytona V-6 Turboed...

Ok, I've read up on this... According to Paul Berkebile via www.allpar.com/mopar/turbo3.html :

Turbo application would run around $1000 using:

Mitsubishi TD05H 16G from Texas Rebuild $599 (for 1)
Intercooler probably from junk Conquest / Starion (I've heard they are very good and probably will be cheap)
Fuel Injectors: get stock one's for VR-4 / Stealth R/T
Manifolds Ported: Up to each individual to get done
Fuel Pump: Holley? Find out which the Turbo Shelby guys use.
Blow-off Valve: a 1st generation DSM (pre-1995) BOV. $50-$75 from the DSM Parts Trader.
Port T-body - 56mm opening
Hoses and Piping
Air/Fuel Gauge (any ideas?)
Boost Gauge (Hopefully we will be able to find stock dashes out of turbo cars.)

and would pump around 260 hp and 270 ft lb of torque...

Is it all worth it and does it seem plausible?

I have a 1990 Dodge Daytona 3.0 with a flowmaster and a k&n air filter...has helped some by cutting the 0-60 to around 8.1 second range vs. 8.9 for stock...i envy the dohc 2.2 turbo iii and the dohc 3.0 in the stealth r/t and 3000gt vr4...so i'm looking to beef mine up...plan on getting a manual transmission out of a turbo 4 cyl as well...i dont like the auto...

Did i mention, that hp and torque figure is with only 9 psi of boost?

I think a better idea would be to go all out and get a RWD V8 conversion kit, but that's just me...

Re: Dodge Daytona V-6 Turboed...

I should be running close to 250 HP and 280+ TQ with a 2.5 4-cyl and my new S60 Turbo @15 PSI. Turbo 4 cylinders are waay cheaper and easier to work with. I'm lookin' for mid 14's @99-100ish MPH.

It'd be one thing if it was a DIY Junkyard setup, but spending well over a grand,, well, you could get an 89-90 T-I car for that much.

3.0's are Mitsubishi engines aren't they?

I know people who have had a hell of a time with a 3.0.

Re: Dodge Daytona V-6 Turboed...

couldn't you just find a 2.5 turbo or 2.2 turbo.
I dont think 3.0s are that great of an engine to begin with. Especially if your going to mod it up.

considering the same bottom end was used for the stealth, i consider them good engines worth modding...i could just go out and buy a mustang with a 5.0...but what fun is that? id rather be different...everyone and their sister has a 4-cyl turbo daytona...how many have v-6 turbo?
