Re: How Many Miles On Your Aerostar??????
I just got rid of my '95 3L Aerostar in July. It had over 200,000 miles on it. The transmission was great, engine was good, but the power steering leaked red like Tu Pac, the body had a bad case of scoriosis. Canadian winter driving with all that salt did it in. Took it to the metal recycler and got almost $200 for it. The best part was seeing this vehicle fly when the crane came by, picked it up and tossed it like Godizzala would toss a car. The van flew about 20 yards onto a hill of scrap metal. It was awsome to see a fairly heavy vehicle fly like that./
I bought a '97 AWD at an auciton for $500. It has a decent body and 120,000 miles on it. I put another $500 into it and it drives fairly well. Has a prob with gas milage though (see my post dated Oct 15.). |

Re: How Many Miles On Your Aerostar??????
167000 on my 93 Aerostar The only problem is it won't shift into overdrive or 4th gear untill the trans is real warm. In northern Illinois in the winter it could be a while. Any ideas out there?

I have a 96 which is my daily driver with 167k. It's had spark plugs, wires, belts, brakes and a battery change. Great van. Never gives me any trouble.

Re: How Many Miles On Your Aerostar??????
I have 1990 I bought new in 90 now has with 489,000 miles on it. I replaced the transmission at 200,000 and again at 398,000. The engine has been tuned up plugs and wires 5 times, I can change the front brakes in 1/2 hr. Ac has been replaced once, the blower moter doent blow vey hard. I use it for work every day, it is a legend in my local automotive circle. I still have the original muffler on it
Its a cargo van and is stripped, crank windows, I burn a quart of oil every 2500 miles but thats it!!! I use 50 weight oil and marvel mystery oil every oil change about every 4000 miles. |

Original motor & original transmission. Only minor repairs for things that normally wear out like tires, brakes, water pump, alternator, distributor cap, etc. 23 miles per gallon normal driving. Up to 26 mpg highway driving. 1 quart of oil used every 2,000 miles. I want a 3rd Aerostar when this one gives up the ghost!!! |
