Keep the car and the extra money! He gave you the price, he pulled the papers, and he watched you sign them. It was his mistake and he is going to have to deal with it!

If the shoe was on the other foot would the dealer let you of the hook ?
Thousands of consumers purchase vehicle's every day and a fair amount of buyers have issues or buyers remorse looking at their bill of sale after the fact, will the dealer play ball with you ?,,, 99.9% nooooooooo The normal process getting a bill of sale involves 3 people - the salesperson - manager on duty - finance office, I find it hard to belive they all missed the mistake, that is unless person selling you the car did the whole process ? I will be very interested of final outcome

Re: Unbelievable Moral Dilemma - Please Help
for me it would depend 100% on the dealer. is it a small mom n' pop type dealer with less than 40 cars on the lot? or is it a big time dealer that always has the brand new cars lined up and rows of countless cars. if it's a smaller lot and they're just trying to make a decent living, then I'd definately give the money back. on the other hand, if it's a dealer that's worth shitloads and charges $800 for parts and labor on a $40 part that takes 20 minutes to install (e.g. most big-time dealerships) then i'd keep the money in a heartbeat. from my experiences, larger car dealers are generally comprised of skeezy unmoral people when it comes to money, and 10 to 1 they deserve to pay the consequences for a fuck up like this.

Re: Unbelievable Moral Dilemma - Please Help
if that was me in that situtation, i would take the car, and offer no return of $8,000.
Take advantage of his mistake, they dont come around very often. Now, lets switch positions here. If you were the car dealer and some guy rolls up and says ill sell you this car for $1000. The next day he comes by and says, nevermind, ill sell you this car for $9000. You would take the $1000 price, right? Dont let that snake talk you into "doing the right thing", he made a mistake and you tok advantage. end of story. |
