"Ricer" Racism
I recently read a thread that asked people not to refer to japanese cars or imports as ricers any more as it is demeaning to refer to a car by the typical people that drive it. Let me clarify, we use the term ricer to refer to the longer non-abbreviated term Rice BURNER. the term originated because the stock imported 4 cyl cars when revved sounded like rice being poured into a gas tank. let me also say that the term RICER is not racist because it does not refer to the people who drive it, or the people who "tune" them it refers to the people who made them, and the last time I checked Honda, Nissan, Daewoo, Daihatsu, and Mitsubishi are all Japanese or asian in origin. And saying that asian people eat rice is not racist, its true mostly because thats the only thing that region of the world will support much like Iowa with corn. So until buggar off and find something better to be oppressed about.

Re: "Ricer" Racism
i always say the "ricers" are cars that are all show and no go. i dont see the point in making a car look good without having it fast. saying the only japanese cars can be ricers makes me mad, i am starting to see cavaliers, neons, and other american cars as ricers. i wouldnt say that nissan is a ricer company, most of the people with a nissan dont go with all show and no go.

Re: "Ricer" Racism
The term "RICER" is more of personal opinion.

Re: "Ricer" Racism
Reading your comments I don't think you have a full grasp of what racism is.
You make stereotypical remarks based on race and then say they're not racism? |

Saying the term Rice Burner came from the exhaust sounds like rice being poured into the gas tank is a little far-fetched Seriously, how would you know what the rice sounds like being poured into a tank? Did you witness this horrible event?
Anyways, "Rice-burner" just refers to the fact that where all these import cars are from, alot of the people there eat rice. Some small minded idiot exaggerated on this fact and suggested that the cars over there probably run on rice over there. Same thing with Ferraris, Alpha Romeos, and Lambos being called "Pasta Rockets." Do I consider the term "Rice Burner" racist? Not really. There's a difference between calling a car a "Rice Burner" and calling someone a "chink", "slant eyes", or a "nip". But when the term Rice Burner is muttered, it's usually being used as an insult, usually by someone who only prefers domestic, and is too close minded to realize that he/she shares alot in common with the person driving that "Rice Burner". But racism is also linked to close mindedness, so I can partially see the connection. But, whatever, that's my

Re: "Ricer" Racism
I don't think we are being racist with the word "ricer" .
because we called ricers the wannabe Racers!! Ricers with their dodge neon ,and some Vtec stckers on the side doors, thnik they can beat anybody , and they are racing against city buses. those are the ricers!! I don't think it has nothing to do with asian people and cuz they eat rice , it is just a different term for the word "Racer and Ricer" "You what I mean Jellybeans"!!!!!!!!!!

Re: "Ricer" Racism
Ricer isn't so much all ahow and no go 'caus eso cars are pretty pimped out and they're actual show cars. It's like what Str8in said, people that make their car look fast. they have the rims and the exhiaust but that's it and not because they can't afford anything else. The poeple with the decals and all..i think y'all get my view.

i always thought the term "ricer" or "rice burner" came from a mixture of japanese cars (rice) that have been modified either thru just dress-up (flamer, flaming, showing off..) or internally moded to produce higher HP (burning tires, gas, *grin* engines) or burner... now i dont actually use those terms i just use import or domestic... but....

Re: "Ricer" Racism
It IS a dumb term to get one's panties in a bunch about. How does anyone know that the term "ricer" is referring to asians? Mexicans eat rice too, and mod cars...so do your generic white Americans for that matter.
Matter of fact, most cultures have relied on rice as a diet staple because it's cheap, has a lot of energy, and goes w/ a lot of different flavors/other foods. Regardless, if the term originated as a racial slur, it isn't intended as one any more. Get over it, people.

Re: "Ricer" Racism
personally, i dont really care where the term came from. all i know is that it means all show and no go in my book. and it just doesnt have to be from a specific country, it can be any car. i see all kinds of ricers.
