Re: paint job
Go around and check at different local body shops. But please, don't get Maaco (unless you do all the prep work and buy the paint and clear coat for them). I need a paintjob on my 90 civic pretty bad. The clear coat is peeling off and rust is showing quite a bit. Went in to a shop for an estimate today. $3500-$4000 at the least!! My friend and I are both going to paint our cars ourselves at the same time since we have the tools.
Bottom line. You get what you pay for. Don't go cheap on the paint job if you're planning to keep your car for a while. $2000 seems to be a pretty good price, if you don't have too much rust and body damage. But look around, ask around, etc. It's better to pay more now than hafta get another paint job later down the road.

Re: paint job
yeah if your planning to hold on to the car, then get a good paint job around 2k'ish. If you are planning to sell the ride within weeks or so, get a cheap paint job to get the car sold!
