Talking coilovers

how come when i lowered my coilovers and then drove my car the top piece that goes on top of the spring hits the top of the body of the car should thre be a big gap in between the shock and the top of the body of the car? i need to know bad will someone answer PLEASE

There may need to be a bump stop there, I'm not sure though, is it just happening on one side or what? Sorry need some more info, what kind of car is it? Sorry
