Re: max speed in ur car?

Lying??? so far you have been proven wrong, First with the gear box, Next its going to be the mag which will then prove my cars ability to reach 280kph, the only thing that is questionalble so far is the top speed in second gear from a launch...............

Iv been in a Pulsar GTiR that had been a Group N rally car in Japan.
I only knew this because the person who was driving it had bought it into the country in its full rally spec. Then removed the cage, Halda, seats, suspension etc, and replaced them standard bits from another wrecked GTiR.
I know of Group N and Group A WRXs and EVOs given the same treatment, and sold to unsuspecting buyers here in NZ, lots of Type R Civics and Integras have come in the same way, and be sold on as standard road cars.

If you can answer my very simple question easily and quickly, I will believe you.
Ignore them, and give in-direct and vague answers and the whole story starts to smell like bull shit.

Re: max speed in ur car?

Ok, heres some serious questions:
Can you tell us some detailed history of the car?

Being second owner, The only history I have is really the mag, and the Info that Ralliart NZ have on it the original owner was Petter lawn.............

Who prepared it for the Targa Tasmania?

Rod Millin who was Contracted by Ralliart NZ to prepare the car

How far did they get in the preparation?

Was it ever raced?

What condition was it in when you got it?

Very good condition, car had aprox 94,000km and looked new......
car had a 97 face lift since mag, and a tune up by Ralliart NZ in 99 No Momo Stearing wheel but car had New Alpine subs head unit etc.............

Looked over car and it had all the bits that it did in the mag including Porsche fuel pump, Ferrari F40 Brembo's (although the disks were Ferrari they were not the F40 model that they had in 95), Car had the Twin plate, 6speed conversion, HKS Piggy backs in glove compartment as it did in the mag, susspension units, Exhaust had been replaced with Borla which now has cats, stock Leather seats had been put back in and looked very new, car still had the old Valintine that it did in the mag, and also mags, Paint etc is also the same, you can see where they had done the conversion from the 95 face lift also ....................

How did you get hold of it?

Found on website which advertised a 395kw Mitsubishi GTO at a car sales yard in Greenslane Auckland

Why is it now a road legal car and not a race car?

What other prep was done to it?

I have replace/Updated the old HKS SSQ, samco joins and reconditioned the Twin Plate, have also added 18" mags off my old GTO and added Momo gear to the mod list. replaced Ferrari disks with more affordable APC sloted disks and Ferrari F40 pads with EBC reds

Is it a NZ new car or a Jap import?

Car is not a jap import and is classed as a 3000gt not a GTO

Where did you do 290kph on NZ roads?

I have done 280Kph down the Airport strait which leads to the New Plymouth Airport

The idea of 500+hp GTO is not all that unusual, nor is the idea of such a car being prepared for a Targa event.
The idea that an ex-race car is now a road legal car is not all that unusual either.
The idea that some guy on an internet forum living in New Plymouth happens to own such a car is possible, but getting to be unlikely.
But, a few details would clear it up. This wouldn't be the first such situation Iv seen that turned out to be quite real.

Re: max speed in ur car?

why don't you show us the chassis data plates and title, if it was built by ralliart it will say.

after that, you can get a video'd dyno run to prove the claimed 530bhp.

i've seen that done too. but i just don't believe that this guy's done it. there's nothing to suggest that. and for racing, what use is gearing that allows 100mph in second? like Fred, the only car i've ever been in that could do 100 in second was a 3-speed dragster.

so, you bought it from a car lot? you mean to say a guy sold an ex-race car that made 530bhp to a car lot? maybe it's very different in NZ, but tuned cars aren't bought by car lots here.

and if you did, they had no info on the car? if you bought a 530bhp race car to sell on, you'd find out everything about it you could. you'd want to know all that so you could sell it for a lot. cars with race history sell for lots, you want buyers to know all about the car to entise them into paying your [high] asking price.

how much did you pay for it?

article says Steve Millen built it. strange...

But hey this discusion has already been finalised, and I'm happy to stick to the fact that my car is a Ralliart moded 3000gt at least......
So which is it, Steve Millen, Rod Millen, or Ron Mcmillin?

Re: max speed in ur car?

My car was on the show room floor mate, and it was the oldest (91) car there, they generally sold, 2000+ - New cars all of high quality and with a price tag that went from 50,000NZ second hand - 200,000NZ..............

Iv driven a Mk1 escort with a Quaif box in it that would run to 100mph in 2nd gear. A Lotus esprit V8 will run to 60mph in 1st, and close to 100 in second. When you have the power, then its not that uncommon.

Its very VERY different here.
Lots of dealers that don't know shit about cars, lots of shady fly by nighters, lots of guys buying and selling cars they often know very little about. There is regulation here, but no requirements to follow it.
