question about turbocharging a 2.5
ive got all the parts i need to turbocharge my 2.5 avenger...i was wondering if anyone knows if i were to put this on would the computer recognize the extra air coming in and in response give it more fuel or is there any programing involved?

Um yea...
I'm pretty sure the computer would recognize it but I don't think it would know exactly what to do with it, it may even see it as a problem and set off the MIL, but I'm pretty sure it would work to a degree. Not 100% sure though just giving my thoughts. |

Re: question about turbocharging a 2.5
i would definately look into getting a new ECU, or get yours reprogrammed. im pretty sure that for every car out there that runs boost that wasnt originally designed for boost, will have problems. This is because the stock ECU was meant only to read gains that were acheivable under stock conditions, so a stock avenger will utilize the intake vaccumm, where the car will simply suck in air on its own. if you turbo the thing, air is being forced into the intake chamber at alarming rates, which would cause readings to go off the charts. Therefore, the ECU will have to guess on the A/F ratios, etc., which could leave your car injecting lean or rough mixture. im sure you could do this for a while, but soon or later the car's cat converter may melt out internally, if the mixture is too lean, causing unburned fuel to hit the chambers of the CC, or the engine may just quit on ya, not acheiving enough fuel to the mixture. if your going big into boost, everyone always says to get bigger injectors, because more air in the intake chamber requires more fuel to burn, resulting in more HP, etc etc etc.. you know the story.
but this is in my opinion, you do what you want.
