Re: CLK-GTR Original Teile 1/24
Hi, I did put link to the WIP in the first post of this thread. Unfortunately it is from croatian scale modelling forum. Good thing is that the forum is open for everyone so you should be able to see all the pictures. Navigation is simple, "Naprijed" will take you to the next page of the thread. For any additional information feel free to send me a private message.

Re: CLK-GTR Original Teile 1/24
It is Zero Mach Blue, similar to Tamiya MS4.

Re: CLK-GTR Original Teile 1/24
Congrats! I agree that this is one of, no not the best CLK-GTRs I have seen done. This is how I wish the kits I bought turned out.

Re: CLK-GTR Original Teile 1/24
Fantastic work on this one to-mek, the carbon fiber work in particular is ultra clean.
I followed the wip on the Croatian forum as well and one question I have is how did you close the gaps from sawing afterwards, in order to get a better fit? I see in one of the pictures that you used putty on the doors, but how do you prevent it from also attaching to the body of the car and just returning to the original state? Making tape? |

Re: CLK-GTR Original Teile 1/24
Oh, I didn't expect this to pop up after 5 years. Regarding the doors I did cut them with saw and fixed gaps with putty. I waited for putty to cure and than I sanded it. Fit, sand, fit... and repeat until gap is acceptable. I should actually increase gap between doors and body so they would fit better after clearcoat. For some parts of firewall I used Tamiya 2K epoxy putty. I greased body with WD-40 and pressed epoxy putty against it to get the shape. In this case WD-40 prevented sticking.

Re: CLK-GTR Original Teile 1/24
To-mek
no reason to be surprised - when I first saw your build in the completed lists on the forum - I stated then "this is probably the best CLK GTR I have seen on any of the forums" and that comment of mine still stands - The way you opened the doors and front cowl to expose the underpinnings of the front ducts and suspension - and exposing the interior - not to mention the rear cowl and the detail work you did on the engine and compartment. Your carbon fiber work on the front ducts is fantastic along with the interior carbon work you did. Very inspiring build you made. I have the SMS super detail set for this kit when I get around to building mine - I hope mine will be half as good. Your decal work on the CLK body is equally as impressive Anyhow Kudos to you To-mek be proud of your build and contribution to the Forum. I would love to see some more of your model builds with WIPs - - especially to show up how you opened the doors and front hood section. Cheers To-mek John |
