Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
I have a 1989 Honda accord lxi with fuel injection.. it has 342834 miles on it.. body wise.. well its a lil rough for the wear but the the interior is still in good condition with the only problem being the front carpet needs to be replace due to wear...outside the paint is faded and the clear coat is gone.. headlights have stuck in the up position and it has a slightly damaged front bumper and both doors have been replaced with green doors (my honda is a light brown color) to date it has had precious little maintence other than routine.. oil fluids sparkplugs and wires ect.. ive replaced the alternator once about four yrs ago the cv shafts were replaced only once at 280 000 and the timing belt and water pump was replaced at 317000 (and had original belt and waterpump which everyone tells me thats simply unheard of but my father bought this car for me new and i am the only owner) i love my honda.. ive had other vehicles as well during the times ive owned this car.. but i still love to drive this lil honda five speed. i told my dad when it finally dies im going to put in the yard and cut the top off and make it into a flower garden...lol

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
92 green accord ( The one you see on goodwill trucks about donating your old car, yeah that is mine) just turned 308,000. Have had all the typical problems, did all the typical maintenance. Burns very little oil between oilchanges ( I just upped the interval to every 4000 miles). Wife's parents were the original owners. Waiting for my wife to get a f/t job so she can get a new car I will sell the honda and drive her 97 maxima with 225,000.
I am very proud of the engineering of honda and my diy maitenance skills to keep it going this long. I still get 26 mpg on the highway and 29 if I use lucas fuel treatment, Any way I am rambling good luck to all in this crazy quest to get the most out of our cars. |

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
528,000 is where it will stay. Odometer cable broke but the car still runs great. As seen here.

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
I have a '93 Accord SE with 103700. I bought it 11 wks ago with 98700. The clear coat is fading a bit. Other than that, it is in immaculate shape! I got most of the service records from the previous owner. The local Honda dealer did the service. They are familiar with this car in the shop. I could not ask for a better deal. God leads in mysterious ways .

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
My 1991 Honda Accord has 281K miles on it. Unfortunately the engine died when the car was on the road. That was very scary. This car had been very reliable until yesterday. Now I have to decide if I need to get another car. :-(
The thought of having to make car payments scares me! |

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
My first car was a 1989 Honda Accord LX. I did the headgasket at around 250k and kept it running up to 310k. I'm not sure what happened, but there was a pop and after that it wouldn't idle. It would start, run for like 3 seconds and shut down unless I kept my foot on the throttle. I'm sure it was a vacuum leak, there were only 40 different lines to check... Whatever the problem was, couldn't find it. However, the guy I sold it to found the problem and had it back on the road a week later. That car was violently opposed to dying.
