Question 1996 I30 lurching and hesitating, especially during acceleration

Hello,

I have a 1996 I30 with 158K miles. I just purchased it a few months ago. I had no mechanical problems with it until recently. It started sporadically, and mostly after the car had been parked for a long time. It would be smooth when backing out of my driveway but when I would put it in drive and accelerate it would lurch a few times. It is happening more often now, and for longer periods of time. (For example, I drove about 25 miles the other day and it did it sporadically for the entire drive.)

I am also starting to notice it hesitates when I try to accelerate, like when getting on the freeway it doesn't want to accelerate quickly when pressing down harder on the gas pedal.

I'm taking it in later this week for an oil change and will have them look in to it but I'd love ideas. I was thinking maybe a fuel filter, but not sure.
