replace oil sending unit
Hi there,
I really need some help with some tricks on how to replace the oil pressure sending unit. 89 Sunbird - 2.0 L OHC developed an oil leak at the oil sending unit which is located right behind the oil filter. So I picked up a new part. The space is soooo tight, I couldn't get a wrench in there. So I then picked up a 1 1/16" deep socket. But it doesn't fit in the space either. So it now looks like I may need to start removing some additional components in order to try and get a wrench in there. Any hints or tricks on how to get this part changed. tia |

Re: replace oil sending unit
Well, I just recently changed that little $%***(, and your right it is very difficult to get to. There is a bolt that sits right in front of the switch that you have to remove in order to fit a socket in there, and even when you have done that (it's doable) but it is still tight. Good Luck.

Re: replace oil sending unit
I replaced mine. I was wondering how to get to it until I had the heater blower motor out of the car to do some cleaning on the heater core. I looked down,,,,,, and there the oil sender was,,,,,,,,,,staring me in the face. Got right to it and was able to change it fairly easy. Hope this helps.
