Is it possible to put a H22 or a B-series Honda engine and maybe the tranny too into a 95 Galant?????

galant engine swap

because I am so facinated with those engines and because I can buy one for less than $800. You might be skeptical about that price but the engines have less than 50k miles and are in perfect working order.

hmm.....but still why?? knowing almost next to nothing about the cars...i have some knowledge about the hondas.....why not go out and get a 91 beater crx and put the 800 dollar b-16 in it??.....and i dont see you finding an h22 for 800.....unless it is out of a wrecked car.....at a junk yard....not trying to start a flame.....but keep the mistubishi with a mitsubishi.....ohh and btw anything is possible if you have the $$......but still the question is why......

seriously. say you drop in an h22... while it would be kinda cool cuz it's a totally different drop, you gotta think economically. By the time you get new mounts, wiring harness, linkages, custom axles etc, you'll still only be in the mid 100 hp range. WHen for the same price you can build a 4g64 hybrid and drop it in, or drop in a 4g63t and make 200+ hp. Honda engines run forever, that's the only reason I would see droppin one into anything, but if you're gonna do it, drop it into another honda, it's more likely to fit easier and be cheaper then droppin it into a Mitsu.

Re: galant engine swap

i dont think its a good idea. my buddy just put a h22 in his hatchback civic and its running 13's all motor. that awesome know ing he spent only about $2500 to do it. but a heavier Mitsu with that engine might not give you the best results. i went with the 2.0 evo engine with my galant after i had to replace the blown 2.5twin turbo v6 3000gt engine. it cost me about $6g's to put that 2.5 in and about $4g's to put in the evo. the result are about the same. not as good as th 2.5 but cant complain.definately took a toll on my wallet not knowing much about the galant then. so listen to banditkiller. keep a mitsu a mitsu

Re: galant engine swap

Don't bother with Honda H22A or other engines from different manufactures, its waste of money and time. Even if you found a way to fit H22A, you will still encounter trouble with transmission, as gearbox are often not usable between different suppliers. So if you must perform engine swaps, try to look for high output Mits engines that fits your Galant.

Re: galant engine swap

H22A puts out 200hp, and there is a H22A euro spec with red heads, it should put out 220hp. Both engines work best with 6-speed manual transmission found on Japan Accords.

all I have to say is that it would be a ROYAL bitch to do. You might as well put a damn lambo engine in your moms minivan while you're at it.

Re: galant engine swap

I THINK YOU SHOULD GO AHEAD AND TRY IT. ALL I DO IS BUILD ANYTHING THATS INTERNALL CUMBUSTION. I AND A FREIND SWAPED A H22A1 USA AND JAPAN HYBRID CLOSED DECK IN HIS acura CL. and next were going turbo n see what happens.
ive been debating the same question myself. the motors both face the same way and the mounts lign up semi the same. the only real hard part will be the mounts lining up and re-drilling them. the wiring is simple just run the wiring harness and place the ecu including fuse boxs etc. only mission then is rewiring the cluster. a good wiring diagram would be ideal. the linkage from a 5 spd is pretty much the same. and them therese the cv joints/ axles if there close or the same.
