1998 S70 Electric Fan stays on
Hey Guys, My sister has a 1998 S70 Turbo and the Electric fan stays on after you shut off the car and take the keys out. She has had it for 2 or 3 years now and it never did that till recently. Any ideas what it is. Im confused cause if it was a bad relay or switch then how is the fan still getting the power after the key is out. The fan stays on for a short while then shuts off I guess when it cools off.

I have the same problem. Have you resolved this issue. If so, what did you have to do.

Re: 1998 S70 Electric Fan stays on
Nope not yet. I had other major mechanical problems so I had disregarded the problem for now. Havent been to concern with it for now. I did notice the harness on the temp sensor is all messed up so I am wondering about that and I am getting a code on it as well. Follow those wires. If I remember right when I disconnected it completelely the fan would shut off but again its been a while since I messed with it so I have to go back through it from the beginning. If you do find the problem please let me know.

Re: 1998 S70 Electric Fan stays on
Change the ECT sensor on the t-stat housing and the thermostat and that will fix it. I did this and it resolved the issue. My heater works properly and the fan only operates when the engine reaches the correct temperture. You will need a 40 TX bit, extension, ratchet, 19mm wrench and a screw driver. The sensor will cost around $50 and around $20 for the thermostat.
