OBD II port not working
Hey all, I have a 96 Galant 2.4L, with many miles on it, and trying to figure out why there is no communication between the brain and the port...I went to have it smogged and was told there is no connection. I could have paid the shop $75 and hour to figure it out, but since I am broke, have to fix it myself...I have two styles of OBD II readers, but when you plug it in, nothing happens. Has anyone ever had this happen? And also, never worked on a mitsubishi, so a wiring diagram would help if anyone has one...Thanks in advance, hope you can help!

Re: OBD II port not working
Check all your fuses. If there is a blown fuse it can cause the OBD system not to work. Sounds crazy but its true.

Re: OBD II port not working
ok, have checked all the fuses and they are all ok...but still nothing. Anyone else ever have this happen to them? I took it to the auto shop and they still say there is no OBD II connection. They too were using a hand held reader, so I got to wondering, could there be a problem with the readers? Maybe you have to use a specific one for this car? Not sure, never had this happen and not been able to figure it out! My brother's saturn was doing the same thing, but we pushed the wires into the back of the plug in and it has worked ever since...but on the mitsubishi, no such luck...maybe we should opt for a saturn too...Hope someone can help me out!

Re: OBD II port not working
yes mitsu has a different computer to hook to your car but a hand-held scanner should work...does the check engine light come on when you turn the switch to run?the check engine bulb is part of the circuit too.....Matt
