Just noticed this thread and saw the problems you've been having. Have you tried Isopropyl Alcohol to strip the paint..?? Too late for this model I know, but it does work very well. Maybe will take a bit longer than your solvent stripper but won't damage the plastic at all..

Hello Steve and heyes57,
The save wasn't possible, I ended up buying new body parts from a friend who was going to use the plastic suspension bits on a S27 kit. I haven't managed to get myself fired up for this rebuild yet...hopefully it'll happen soon. I'll give the Isopropyl Alcohol a try , thanks for the tip.
