Hi I have a 1988 B2000 standard engine with carburetor . I was wondering how many Km's should I get out of a tank of gas.

Should get 9-11 km/liter city/highway driving.
45 liter tank should get 405/495 km city/highway driving. |

The mileage on my 1986 B2000 ( 140,000 miles) varies considerably. I have gotten as much as 650 km (400 mi) and as little as 400. I've discovered that mileage is much better in the summer than winter and I believe the reason is directly attributable to avoiding vacuum leaks, maintaining the careburator, good cooling system, good SP wires etc. The higher ambient temperatures in summer will increase the vapor pressure of the gas and in my case provides a better fuel/air mixture. Lately my engine is running cooler than usual and not getting the 550 km I'm accustomed to and may need a new thermostat to increase the operating temperature but as long as I am getting good mileage I'm not too concerned.

My '86 use to get 25mpg but after a carb rebuild (in 2002 because I couldn't pass emmissions), it now passes emmissions but I only get 20-21. It runs really rich when cold but I wouldn't think prolonged cold starts would cause a 20% drop over a tankful. Now I only get 300 miles per tankful Any ideas what to look for? BTW, my compression in all 4 cylinders is still 140-150psi. Spark plugs look the right color.

Re: b2000 fuel consumption
My '87 B2000 gets 20-23 mpg but that's mostly highway driving. Engine is all original.
