98 tacoma, no check engine light
I bottomed out on a curb which hit right on the cat convertor and the engine quit. Now it turns over but will not start. When the key is turned to 'ON' I get No check engine light. I've unhooked the battery to reset the ECU, checked the relays and fuses. It looks like the O2 sensor after the cat converter bumped up into the bottom of the bed since it sticks straight up.
Any ideas? Thanks. |

Start with the basics. Can you hear the fuel pump running? Are you getting spark?

Re: 98 tacoma, no check engine light
An Update: After a chat with a local dealer service dept, A ground short from the O2 sensor wire probably killed the ECU since it was running at the time.
If you need assistance on removing/replacing the ECU, I can walk you through it. Fairly easy. |

You jsut pull the glove box and there it is, or in my case it would be sit in the passenger seat and there it is. ECU repacement is simple. Glad to hear you are on the road.
