Starter issues??
What's up everyone, I'm new here and I'm looking forward to chatting and discussing ideas with all of you.
Now onto my question that I have....I have a 1990 Caprice with a 5.7 350 engine, ex-police cruiser and I am having problems with my starter overheating on me. When I drive the car and the temp gets to 180 and above and I turn off my engine then I try to restart it but my starter dies. It won't crank at all and I have to wait up untill the engine cools down until it cranks up again. Now this is the 5th starter installed in my car and I am curious to know as to why I am having so many problems? Are all the solenoids on each starter defective? I am so lost and to the point of getting rid of the car. Any help I would appreciate super greatly, thanks guys. |

it sounds more like the power cable to the starter is bad!

If replacing the cable didn't fix the problem, you might want to check into an aftermarket starter/solnoid heat shield.
