Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari Testarossa ?
I remember this being discussed here previously, I think it may have been decided it was a previous Protar release.

Hi,
I've been thinking of building this one as my first kit. Just wondering how much paint should I buy. I searched the forum and found that it depends and is debated. Maybe one 100ml Tamiya TS can is ok for 1:24, but what about 1:12, could I do it with 3? Cheers, Tarmo |

If you have good skills they can be built into a nice model. Most critical area is making sure the opening doors, hood, and boot open and close properly.

I have a 1/12 Spyder Testarossa by Italeri. maybe they originally made this as well? mine has hinged everything. but detail is not great.

The TR doesn't have opening doors or boot, but you have to mold in the side strakes to build it properly which requires a little more skills than basic building.

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari Testarossa ?
I built the Monogram one many years ago, but I don't know if it's the same as that Revell one. From what i can recall, it went together without a problem, but i don't know how good it is detail wise.
I've been thinking of rebuilding it... |

I'm building the monogram one, with the etch kit. The transkit is very good, with many parts that i can't work out, there are no proper instructions, only a sheet telling you what you can do with the pieces. Unfortuanately there is only detail for two disc brakes, as they build up out of three pieces. Over the last month, i have cut out all the plastic mesh, creating a new engine cover, and sawing the bonnet off of the car, where i will scartch build detail. The interior, is a scaled up 1/24 kit, although everything looks correct, the doors do not open.
If any of you have got the latest kit from revell, could you please post the numbers of all the chromed pieces and the rubber wheels, as my kit from ebay, 'complete' was missing all of these pieces. |

I almost forgot, the engine detail is suprisingly good, but with no piping. The proportions on the body are correct, although on my kit, it is now badly warped due to time, and there being only suports on the window, not along the sides where the vents go and the back where the engine cowl goes. Well worth the £35, but look on ebay for it cheaper, about 22 plus 7 postage from germany.
