tranmission swap 2.0 auto clatter chatter plz help

finally the last step to getting this project on the road.
all is buttoned up to specs,, the only thing is when firing up she produces a clatter .. chatter noise eminates from the starter area, i took the belt off to make certain the noise wasnt tranfering from the steering pulley no belt that rules out anything on that end,,, the noise does appear to be coming from the area where the starter engages.. I did have the battery replaced as it tested bad,, the starter was also tested and tested GOOD but now I am wondering if the test could be a false negative since it sounds like the bendix is sticking.
anyone have any better ideas and or suggestions on a resolve for this issue.. thanks in advance..
