Re: Yamaha YZF-R1

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
kaisers_phoenix, when things are so small it is almost impossible to do things by hand. Anyway I must say it was very difficult to put the transparent sheet exactly with the decal correctly placed to see it through the hole.
For today a little update, The wire of the generator, Carburetors, Those Tamiya's carburetors are very poor in detail terms so I'm going to detail them and see what can I get. I will post pictures this weekend. Roca. |

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
this is awesome. how do you like doing a street bike vs a motoGP bike? I had a blast doing my street Special Edition Ninja.

Well I prefer street bikes for a few reasons, first of all you can do to the bike anything you want like you could do in 1/1 scale at your own bike, then there are more references, there are a repair manuals and even the people has the bike so it is really easy to take note of all the details to put them on the model. Also, everyone makes Motogp bikes and the detail level nowadays is very high, so there is more difficult to make a decent bike and also with all the details which are harden to find than the street bikes. So I could say that the Motogp bikes are too much seen, on street bikes I only saw a lot of details in a few occasions because in Motogp bikes you have already a detail kit that may offer for example Top Studio. But that doesn't mean that I don't like Motogp bikes, I love them as I love those street bikes, but I spend more nice time making a street bike than a Motogp Bike, why? because It's me who is detailing the bike not Top Studio (but I have to say that those details of TS are absolutely brilliant) and of course I would use a TS kit if I'm going to do a Motogp bike those pieces are absolutely nice and well made the bike could look like very very real, so I could say that I prefer a street bike because I do the detailing myself. Bye! Roca. |

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
Hello,
I have new photos of the engine almost completed, it needs more wiring , I have to add the throttle wires and few things more, I tested if it could enter to the chassis and it can! Note the hose bands on the black fuel tubes... still I have to make the fuel pump etc etc... I hope you like the engine, I put a lot of effort. Roca. |

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
Hi Joel, here you can see the fuel pump, still needs to add electric connection and the pieces in the red circles are the protections for the fuel tank.
Also I had to make the engine mount a little bit longer in order to hold the fuel pump because in the real bike it is the place. |

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
Wonderful! Are you going to add an air box as well? I've always thought the air inlets looks a bit off without the box.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
Hi Joel,
Yes, I'm going to make the airbox and also the ignition system but still don't know if I will put the airbox directly on the bike or I will make a stand and put the different pieces on the shelves. something like this http://www.logismarket.es/ip/carttec...nes-316988.jpg Also there is a way that I can try to put the airbox with the lid removed allowing to see the air filter inside the airbox, but if I'm going to put the airbox on the bike I have to remove the cranckase breather which can be seen in front of the fuel filter in order to connect it to the airbox. I have to think about it but on the next days I will try to connect some of the sensors with the main line. Thanks for all Joel. Roca. |

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
Great work! I learn a lot from your builds, I agree about building street bikes, I went over my head building my NSR, when I found more photos, I was half-way through the build and have to rebuild a lot.......again!
Very much enjoying my SR400 kit! Keep up the great work!

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
Sorry for the delay guys...
I've been very busy and now I don't have the spare time I wish... Just made the first try with foam of the airbox, next step will be copy it in resin and start the job of sanding and adding details. Bye! Roca. |

Re: Yamaha YZF-R1
I knew you couldn't keep your hands off that air box when mentioned...:-) I thought of it when building mine but as you have to do adjustments to the tank I skipped it. Great work Roca!
