Re: Proton KR '06
Thank you geronimo!!
Well as someone asked me for the welds, I decided to put some pictures of what I'm using for the welds. Well I think that you can obtain the same result with putty ( in fact the blue tube is putty ) Here are the two tubes, one is transparent and is specially for this, and the blue is putty Here is the first example with the transparent. And the other of putty I tested both and I prefer the blue tube because the putty is harder than the other and is more easy to get a better result. Some tests And now with the KR, I know they aren't perfect but for me are ok. I hope you like it! Roca PS: Tomorrow I will post one picture (the only one I have) of the real swing arm |

Re: Proton KR '06
nice "how to"
once i tried the following: very thin styren or plastic stripe with a lot of model glue. the glue melts the plastic and with blade you can make the weld patter. Unfortuantelly my camera is broken so i cannot present any photo but the result was quite good. and it dries to plastic hard. |

Re: Proton KR '06
Thank you geronimo, nice idea yours.
I think I won't be able to put more pictures in the next couple of days, now it's time to get the Pitwalk and others books and start to draw with Corel all the geometries. I think this is one of the most important steps, because if this is wrong all the bike will not fit correctly and I will have a serious problems. The first step will be take a photo of the swing arm and chassis (mine) at 1:1 (side view) and start to draw the lines of the rear suspension and the important points like the center of the wheel, in this step I think I will have a surprise with the hole of the rear suspension.... but anyway I have to do the things the correct way. For the front part there isn't big problems because I didn't modified the angle of the hole of the handlebars (don't know if this is the correct word). Well I won't post pictures but I will post some images of the work with the geometries... maybe. Bye Bye Roca. |

Roca, your welds look stunning.
I also liked the how to. I hope you will place pictures of the drawwings. Geronimo, your idea of making the weld is also fabulous. Thanks for this information. denman

Re: Kr 211v '06
Thank you denman!
First try to see how are the things and I have been amazed of how the piece fits correctly the original. The images aren't the model at 1:1 but I done it for a first comparison, just put the piece over the real bike. (The drawings will come later) As you can see I have to modify the hole for the chain, and then we will see how is the hole for the rear suspension (but this is a difficult point that I have to take with a lot of attention) Bye! Re: Kr 211v '06
Thank you Joel!
I have imagined that there will be more work to do with the frame. Here is the image Some areas must be modified I can tell that there are 3 areas First: The long and front engine mount also with the reinforcing tube. Second: The area which mounts the seat cowl Third: The area where is placed the hole for the swing arm. The most important is that the angle of the shape of the frame coincides as the one of the real bike, the main shapes are the same. So I don't know why I didn't done this before, but anyway I suppose I had a lot of work to do only the main shape of those pieces, so now is the moment to see the differences between mine and the real bike to do this the more seemed as possible. Bye! Roca. |

Re: Kr 211v '06
Hey ALEX GAROLI thank you for the pictures! I have seen them before.
They are from Modulo (if I'm not wrong) and it is 1/12 scale. There is a fabulous work with the body but there are some mistakes on the frame and the swing arm (for example where are the welds?). They say that this is the late version of the bike, and if it is the end season bike, It should have some differences on the swing arm and the frame. I read a lot about it and I know that after the Japan GP they tested some new things on the frame etc, also they used a new reinforcement bar on the chassis. But for the swing arm I think that there was at least three versions of swing arm. (Also six for the chassis if I remember correctly). But I have to say that the body work is fantastic! I think that I should have to improve the tail cowl. Anyway I'm making the Japan GP Test bike, which this is the one with the best modifications for K.Roberts (I think ) I hope to put more pictures in a few hours about the chassis. Bye! Roca. |

Re: Kr 211v '06
Hi guys,
Well I had some problems with the server where I hosted my website so I had to upload the image with a website service. Here it is! What do you think? Of course there is more work to do but it is on the way. Tomorrow I will upload the image again... I don't know if everyone will be able to see it because I don't know exactly how that websites works Bye Roca. Edit* I uploaded the image again Last edited by Roca46; 07-07-2008 at 12:44 PM. |

Re: Kr 211v '06
Hep! Thank you Joel,
I hope to put some progress this evening, I have to start with the other side, fortunately I counted the sheets I used of evergreen to modify the reinforcement bar. I just started practising with white metal, and the new silicone specially for this, I hope to get good results. Bye!! |

Re: Kr 211v '06
Im really impressed not only for your detailing work, also for you knowledge of the bikes you are building; are you going to make your own decals or there is a kit available?

Re: Kr 211v '06
Hi Alex,
Thank you for the comments. Well I can do my own decals but the main problem is that they are difficult to cut etc, so if I launch this kit for sale, obviously I will have to contract a company to make the decals, I remember one french company that can do it but this will come later, anyway the first bike will be finished with my decals. And for today only one picture Tomorrow I will polish this side and I will start with the other. Bye! Roca. |
