Re: 1997 Jimmy Intermittent Stalling

Glad that it's fixed. Mine also turned out to be the ignition switch. It was an easy job to replace, but I spent more time tracking down an E-4 torx socket so I could remove the screws holding the switch.

I have a problem with my 1998 GMC Jimmmy stalling. I have replaced the fuel pump. I will be driving down the road and it will just stall at an idle. It only does it sometimes. I checked the ignition module and it's not that. When it stalls it loses all power. It has no check engine light and it pulls no codes. Please help

Re: 1997 Jimmy Intermittent Stalling

All power? If headlights don't work when it stalls, I'd check battery connections for corrosion first, and examine between the two positive cables. But if you mean just the gauges go dead when the motor dies, it could definitely be an ignition switch and if its the ignition switch the chances of getting a code for something is very slim.
