Mysterious Blue Blinking Button
Hey everyone!
As it might be obvious, I'm new here. I have a burning question that I hope can get answered. So, my wife and I just bought a used 2011 RAV4 today, because our last car bit the dust. We didn't get anything special, just the bottom of the line model. But, what is driving me nuts is, there is a small button located to the left of the steering wheel, by where the dashboard brightness adjustment dial is. When the car is on and running, pressing the button lights it up with an annoyingly bright blue LED and the vehicle chirps, sounding just like when you lock it. Pressing the button again turns off the LED and makes the car chirp again. From playing around with it, I have noticed that if you turn off the car when the button (LED) is off, after about a minute or so, the car will chirp and the switch LED will blink rapidly. After about another minute or so, the car will chirp a second time, but now the light will blink once every few seconds. At this point, if the car is opened, the alarm will sound. But, if I turn the car off while the light is ON, this process doesn't happen, but the light will stay on. From a little bit of research, I can safely assume (I hope) that it is some sort of aftermarket security system that the previous owner must have installed. I guess I am just looking for some sort of confirmation that this is, in fact, what I think it is. And if so, any information as to the brand, model, misc. would be greatly appreciated! Ben |

It's aftermarket. Look up under the dash above your feet driver side and look for a small plastic black box with 50 wires going to it. It should say on the box the brand
