2009 traverse engine reduced power and overheats

2009 traverse LT 164,000 miles. Seems to have plenty of coolant in reservoir. Wife and kids broke down today, temp gauge goes all the way up and no power. Any ideas?

Many things can cause overheating, stuck thermostat, cooling fan not working. Got have it checked out, no quick answer here.

Do you have a check engine light ? Will idle increase if you try to accelerate ? If you have misfire codes for one bank try removing the o2 sensor for that bank. Just had one with misfires on # 2/4/6 CATs were plugged.
