Emergency Problem! Need help asap!
Today I brought my car into the shop to rotate my tires. When my friend (shop employee) attempted to remove one of my wheel locks, it came out cracked. It seemed to be previously cracked before today because there was already rust on the crack. Now, there is a small part of the wheel lock lodged inside the lug hole. I went to 4 different shops and they claimed that they wouldn't dare attempt to chisel or drill out the remaining bit of the lock in fear of damaging my rim. So I'm basically screwed now. I can't take off the wheel because a bit of cracked wheel lock is stuck there. If I get a flat, I'm screwed because I can't remove the wheel. What do I do?! Is there any way to resolve this problem?

a pic would be helpful for a better solution.
i'm assuming part of the wheel lock busted off and got jammed between the wheel and lug. if so, use some needlenose vice grips to grab it, then rotate it aroudn the lug until u can get it off. |

if it was me I would get a dremel tool and cut it out just take your time worse comes to worse you will knick the inside of the hole where the lug nut would cover up anyways
thats what I would do anyways that or take a nice round cutting blade for the dremel tool and cut 2 slits in it and use needle nose pliers to turn it Jeff |

i dont think that dremel tool will stand up to the lugnut, they are the only things that holds your wheel on, so they are made to be strong.

A dremel will do it, but it might be a bit fussy.
If you do damage the stud you can get new ones pretty easily, which leaves you with another option. Cut the back of the stud, and push it through the wheel. then you just need to get another Stud. And next time dont do up the wheel nuts so tight. Thats the only way it could crack. (unless it was defective)
