I just bought a beautiful, like new RS Convertable and have two issues with it. It only has 24K miles on it and was kept in a garage most of its life. First issue is starting. says not to push on the gas but the car takes longer to start than one would think is needed. turns over and over for about 5 to 10 seconds before the engine starts. I had put fuel injector cleaner in the first two tanks to clean out the lines and gas tank of any water from the car sitting so long. do you think that is my problem? The additive says it's for 21 gallons, but the tank is only 11 gallons. When I first got the car it didn't do this so maybe that's it?
The second issue has to do with the tachometer. It was not working so I took it to the local dealer. They called me and told me that they could make it work again by disconnecting the attenuation filter. That my filter was probably bad and it would be $345. to repair. I told them no thanks, i could live without the tach. he told me that if I disconnected it I would hear a whinning, humming sound from the engine. LIke you hear on AM radio sometimes when you rev the engine. So I got the car back and my tach works now and I hear the ringing. He did it anyway I guess. I was going to take it back but I was so upset with them I didn't want to drive back. Does anyone know where the attenuation filter resides in the car? can I reconnect it myself? And why would it cost $345. to repair if they disconnnected it so easily? Maybe they just disconnected the wiring in the firewall area only is what I suspect.
